Environment and Sustainability

Working to protect our precious natural resources, and promote responsible, sustainable growth

“Sustainability” is commonly defined as a set of practices that meet present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

Ensuring that our business community prospers in a greener economy, the Chamber brings members together to share best practices and to encourage effective corporate sustainability programs. Our members understand the importance of a long-term vision to manage the rapid growth our area continues to experience.

We have a history of bringing together major stakeholders to tackle regional environmental issues. Over the past decade, the Chamber has helped to establish the Livable Communities Coalition, the Clean Air Campaign, and the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District.

Atlanta is home to many businesses, large and small, that are embedding sustainability into their corporate strategy and creating long-term value to our economy and our community.

Links to case studies, corporate sustainability reports, presentations and other resources on this site are intended to deepen this conversation.

The Chamber's Environment and Sustainability committee is led by Jim Abrahamson President, the Americas, Intercontinental Hotels Group and co-chaired by Richard Hays, managing partner for Alston & Bird, LLC.
